In Winston-Salem, the Juror was Marc Pachter, Director, National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. He awarded 1st and 2nd Place Awards to sculptures and 3rd to this oil painting.

In "A Blue Ball in Kabul," I superimposed opposite global locations to immortalize America’s Twin Towers and those who perished. The painting combines images of reality and symbols within a derangement of time. The youths kick the world at their feet, which challenges our hope for the future. Both jurors were attracted by the quality of this painting when they first viewed it during their jury process. Galesburg Civic Arts Center, founded in 1923, purchased my painting for their permanent art collection.
